Boards and easels are used in many offices to facilitate streamlined communication. There are many different kinds, along with a few other methods of display. Let’s take a closer look.
Whiteboards, or dry erase boards, are white and a designed for use with a dry erase marker. Dry erase marker, in theory, easily wipes clean from the board to give you a fresh surface anytime. Whiteboards are commonly found in classrooms, meeting rooms, break rooms, in homes, etc. When choosing one, you’ll want to first consider the size. What all will you be writing on there? The more the topics, the larger board you’ll need. You’ll also want to consider the size of the space where your board will hang. Beyond size, you have a few additional options. Many have an accessory tray for markers, erasers, and other supplies. Will you be filling out a grid on a regular basis? You might want a board preprinted with lines, so you don’t have to draw them on yourself. You can also find boards that are magnetic. Whiteboards are made from two main materials. Porcelain boards are extremely easy to clean but also expensive. More common are melamine boards. These are more affordable but do require regular cleaning.
Bulletin boards may be a bit old school but they are still around. And the choices have expanded from just a basic corkboard, thought that is still a popular option. You can now display your message effectively and stylishly. Many come wrapped in fabric or vinyl in a selection of colors to coordinate with your office décor. The vinyl boards include a self-healing feature and can be cleaned with just soap and water. They even make boards out of recycled rubber, also self-healing to eliminate pin marks. Each of these options comes in a light, medium, or heavy duty option and a variety of sizes.
Chalkboards are another oldie but goodie. Even with the growing popularity of whiteboards, chalkboards are still used in many classrooms. One reason for this is their durability; with the right care and maintenance, a quality chalkboard can last through years of use. As with all of our boards, chalkboards come in a variety of sizes, so there’s sure to be one that fits your space. They come either framed or unframed, in green or black, and with or without magnetic properties. Porcelain is becoming a popular material used to construct chalkboards. While this does make the price go up, it also increases the longevity of your board. Places where it will be used quite frequently, such as schools and universities, will want to invest in a heavy duty option. Light duty boards still offer a good solution for break rooms and other areas where they will be used less frequently. Be sure to consider the amount of use you’ll need before making a purchase.
Can’t decide between styles? A combination board might be best for you. As the name implies, combination boards include multiple types in one unit for increased functionality. The various surfaces may be laid out side-to-side or reversible. Enclosed boards for indoor and outdoor use can use any of these options and are perfect for displaying materials you want to protect from sticky fingers or from the elements. We also carry a selection of conference room boards to enhance your presentations as needed. Another option is letter boards, which have interchangeable letters to display your message to your customers.
A newer board style we haven’t touched on yet is electronic boards. Electronic boards capture what you write on the board and transmit a digital copy to your computer. This erases confusion and keeps everyone on the same page. Your team can spend meetings listening rather than frantically taking notes. The Quartet Kapture system might be a bit of a steep investment but the benefits are huge.
Easels offer many of the same benefits as the boards we’ve discussed with the added plus of portability. They are usually smaller and can have a whiteboard, magnetic surface, or flipchart. Easels allow the display of messages, easy note taking in front of a group, and can also be used as a teaching tool or at trade shows. Smaller by nature, easels can fold up for easy storage or slide into a closet. Many of them adjust for height for a truly flexible device. Other than containing a surface, some easels are basic trifold holders, allowing you to use them to display your own board. Most easels have a coordinating carrying case for easy portability.
Apart from just easels, we also carry actual sign stands as well as a variety of pre-made signs for common office needs. Looking for something even smaller? Try a bulletin bar, tack bar, or paper holder strips for displaying documents, signage, and more. Heading to a convention? Check out our display systems to really show off your product. For higher tech displays, we have traditional overhead projectors as well as projection screens. And our audio visual carts make it simple to share items between cubical solution buyers guide departments; just wheel the electronics to wherever you need.
